Coloring For a Cure: Written by Maria (Margaret's daughter)

My mother, Margaret Manning, was diagnosed with MANTLE CELL LYMPHOMA CANCER on her birthday last year (March 20, 2009). She immediately began treatments at the Burzynski Clinic in Houston, Texas. Family, friends, and loved ones donated generously as insurance didn't pay for all of her medications. Currently (February 2010) Margaret is 90-95% well! She is in partial remission but has been advised by Dr. Burzynski to continue her treatment plan until the cancer is completely gone.

In an effort to help raise money for the last few months worth of medication, Margaret's grandson, named Tate, came up with his own plan of how he could help his Grandma. H
e said, "I have it ALL figured out... I'm going to color pictures from my coloring book and sell them for money!" Later that night, Tate sold his first picture for five dollars... He was ecstatic and determined to continue making a difference. During the last two months, Tate has raised over $100 from selling pictures that he has colored! Tate's idea has gained momentum and now 7 precious children have volunteered to join him in his efforts.

Would you like to BUY a colored picture from Tate, Rebecca, Anson, Ryan, Emma, Lily, Shyre, or Brityn?!? (See pictures below) Just donate ANY amount of money (at least enough to cover the stamp) and one of the children below will mail a picture back to you!

(Please make sure that your Paypal address is correct. If you have a preference of who you'd like to color your picture, please specify in the "notes section" of Paypal, otherwise we'll just rotate between the children).

Have you ever heard of pledging money for someone to lose weight?

It's a really great idea. There are 3 great guys that want to lose weight and get sponsors to pledge for them. Guess where the money goes? To me and to Stephanie Nielson. It's a great idea and would truly bless lives. So....take a look at the website below if your interested. Sponsored by Jeremy Lindblom.

FUNDRAISERS IN PLANNING STAGES

We can still use more – please contact Andrea or Maria to volunteer to plan and run another fundraiser:

Thomas and James Manning Art Sale -
Margaret’s son Thomas, who is currently serving a mission for his church, completed a beautiful painting of the Mesa Temple before he left. The painting will be available as a print or on canvas and in various sizes. - Thomas has also completed 2 other paintings that will be for sale. There is another painting of the Mesa Temple, as well as a beautiful Hot Air Balloon painting. - James has also painted a surfing picture that will be available. - Information on ordering will be available on this blog as it becomes available.

"High Hopes" Benefit Concert–
Headed up by Diane Hale, featuring performers and a silent auction – possibly a bake sale. Planned for April or May. - We are in need of items for the silent auction, as well as a committee to run the auction. - A bake sale before and during intermission may be another way to raise money at this event. If someone is interested in running the bake sale and getting items to sell, that may help as well.

"High Hopes" Spaghetti Dinner and Service Auction-
Planned for end of April or sometime in May. Date will be forthcoming. - We are in need of services for the auction. If you are able to donate a service, please contact Andrea or Maria at the email addresses or phone numbers above.
